Days 1 & 2

Fly economy class with Singapore Airlines from London Heathrow to Saigon via Singapore.  Arrive Saigon and transfer to the Bong Send Annex Hotel for a two night stay.  The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 3

Morning walking tour of Saigon's historic landmarks including the Old Saigon Post Office, Notre Dame Cathedral, the former Presidential Palace, Opera House, the City Hall and War Remnant Museum.  The afternoon is free at leisure.

Day 4

Early morning transfer to the airport for onward flight to Hue, a former capital of Vietnam under the Nguyen Dynasty of emperors.  Upon arrival in Hue transfer to the Festival Hotel.  Later transfer to the Imperial Citadel from where Nguyen Emperors once ruled Vietnam.  Continue to Dong Ba Market before returning to the hotel.

Day 5

Early morning dragon boat ride upstream to visit the Thien Mu Pagoda, Hue's most preserved religious monument.   Later travel by road to Hoi An via the Hai Van Mountain Clouds Pass where a spectacular panorama of the central coastline can be seen.  On arrival in Hoi An enjoy a walking tour of the ancient town centre and take in former merchants' houses, the 400 year old Japanese covered bridge and the colourful market brimming with tropical specialities.  Stay overnight at the Vinh Hung Hotel.

Day 6

Transfer to the airport for a morning flight to Hanoi.  Upon arrival in Hanoi transfer directly to Hai Phong, a colonial port city.  Arrive in Hai Phong and check-in at the Harbour View Hotel.  Following this enjoy a city tour including visits to Hang Kenh Temple, Du Hang Pagoda and Do Market.

Day 7

A short drive brings you to Halong, take a 4 hour boat cruise around picturesque Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with more than 3000 islands rising steeply from the water there is some very dramatic scenery.  The cruise explores various grottos and fishing communities.  A fresh seafood lunch is also served on board.  In the afternoon return by road to Hanoi.  Stay for two nights at the Thuy Thien Hotel.

Day 8

Walking tour of Hanoi, visit the Old Quarter, the Temple of Literature and One Pillar Pagoda.  Afternoon is at leisure. Evening walk to the Thang Long Theatre to watch a water puppet show.

Day 9

Transfer to the airport for economy class Singapore Airlines flight departure to London Heathrow via Singapore.

Day 10

Arrive London Heathrow.

Prices include economy class Singapore Airlines flights from London Heathrow to Saigon and returning from Hanoi to London.  Domestic economy class flights with Vietnam Airlines from Saigon to Hue and from Danang to Hanoi are also included, with airport taxes.

All accommodation with daily breakfast, transfers and tours with English speaking guides as detailed above are included.   Meals are included as detailed (however drinks are not included). Accommodation is based on two people sharing a twin room, although rooms for sole use are available at an additional cost.
