A Taste of Japan
Many
words can be used to illustrate the diversity of Japan. This
intriguing country with long held traditions is home to hi-tech
cities and remote villages where the way of life has remained
unchanged for centuries.
A
Taste of Japan includes visits to the bustling capital city of Tokyo
with its skyscrapers, neon lit shop fronts, and ancient Imperial
Palace.

This
is followed by a short stay in the peaceful town of Hakone at the
foothills of Mt. Fuji. The picturesque scenery here is a
photographer’s dream, The final few days are spent in Kyoto. Often
described as a living museum, this city is dotted with intricately
decorated temples and shrines. The Gion area of the city gives a
unique insight into Japan’s past and here you will often see Geisha
girls in traditional dress.
Days 1 & 2
Fly
from London Heathrow to Tokyo Narita Airport with Japan Airlines.
On arrival you will be transferred by airport limousine bus to the
Palace Hotel for a three night stay.
Day 3
You
will be met at the Palace Hotel to join the Cityrama Morning Tour,
this will include visits to the Meiji Shrine, Imperial East Garden
(or Imperial Palace Plaza on Mondays and Thursdays),
Asakusa Kannon Temple and Nakamise Shopping Arcade, followed by a
drive through the colourful shopping area of Ginza.
Day 4
Today
is spent at leisure to explore Tokyo.

Day 5
After
checking out of the Palace Hotel you will be met for your Mt. Fuji
one day tour. This will include a drive half way up the famous
mountain, entrance to the Mt. Fuji Visitor Centre and a western
style lunch at the Hotel Highland Resort. Following lunch you will
then enjoy a cruise on Lake Ashi and a visit to Mt. Komagatake
Cableway before being transferred to the Hotel Kowaki-en for a two
night stay.
Day 6
Today
is spent at leisure to explore the delights of Hakone.
Day 7
After
checking out of the Hotel Kowaki-en travel by local bus to Odawara
Station, from here you will board a Shinkansen (bullet train) to
Kyoto. On arrival make your way to the Rihga Royal Hotel for a
three night stay.
Day 8
Today
you will enjoy the Kyoto Morning Tour which will include sightseeing
at Nijo Castle (or Ryoanji Temple when Nijo Castle is closed),
the Golden Pavilion, the Kyoto Imperial Palace (or Higashi
Honganji Temple when the Kyoto
Imperial Palace is closed) and the
Kyoto Handicraft Centre.
Day 9
Today
is at leisure to explore Kyoto.
Day 10
After
checking out of the Rihga Royal Hotel in Kyoto make your way to
Kyoto Station and board the Haruka train to Osaka Kansai Airport.
