Singapore
The unique city of
Singapore is a melting pot of culture, history, traditions and
modern hi-tech industry. English is widely spoken in this
vibrant city making it easy to get around with an efficient subway
system, bus services and taxis.
Soak up the culture in
Arab Street. Here you can find basketware, semi-precious
stones and embroidered materials, or visit Little India and enjoy
delicious cuisine, buy spices or watch flower garlands being woven.
Absorb the atmosphere in Chinatown at Thian Hock Keng Temple or
watch a prayer session at Singapore's oldest Indian temple Sri
Mariamman. Here you can taste authentic Chinese cuisine and
buy some of the wonderful Chinese ingredients.
A
stay in Singapore would not be complete without a visit to the
spectacular Raffles Hotel. This captivating hotel is world
renowned for its grandeur, elegance and charm. A popular
attraction is the Long Bar, where you can try a famous "Singapore
Sling cocktail".
The Singapore Zoological
Gardens and the world's first night zoo "The Night Safari" are
attractions that must be seen to be believed; here you can see a
wide variety of animals close up and in a nocturnal environment.
Sentosa
Island is Singapore's premier island resort with many attractions to
enjoy. These include the Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom,
Dolphin Lagoon, the Underwater World Oceanarium and Volcano Land.
You can also see the Merlion, standing at 37 metres high, half lion
and half fish, this is Singapore's biggest replica of its national
symbol.
Singapore has some
wonderful hotels providing excellent restaurants. However if
you choose to dine outside of your hotel, why not visit Clarke or
Boat Quay? Here many al fresco restaurants and bars line the
waterfront and provide a wonderful place to relax after a day's
sightseeing.
