The Lost Kingdoms

The Lost Kingdoms Tour gives you an exciting insight into the diverse cultural heritage of Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos.  You will be amazed by the intricately designed temples and monuments and you will step back in time as you visit the many ancient ruins during this tour.

Days 1 & 2

Fly with British Airways from London Heathrow to Bangkok.  On arrival in Bangkok you will be met and transferred to the Bel Aire Princess Hotel for an overnight stay.

 

Day 3

After breakfast transfer to Bangkok Airport for your onward Bangkok Airways flight to Siem Reap in Cambodia.  On arrival at Siem Reap Airport you will be met for a sightseeing tour of the awe inspiring UNESCO world heritage site of Angkor Wat, one of the World's most impressive ruins.  The temple still has fine Apsara carvings in Ankorian era art.  End the day at Phnom Bakheng, the first major temple to be constructed in the Angkor area, for a panoramic view of Angkor Wat and West Baray during sunset.  Transfer to the Angkor Palace Resort and Spa for a two night stay.

Day 4

After breakfast, have a visit to the mysterious royal city, Angkor Thom.  It's 50 tower temple is an awesome sight.  At first glance it seems a shapeless mass of stone, but further scrutiny reveals a face, and then another and another until suddenly you are engulfed by the silent, heavy, enigmatic gaze through half closed eyes, staring out from a primitive and remote time.  Continue your exploration with a visit to picturesque Ta Prohm that had nearly disappeared into the jungle and remains overgrown, an oddly haunting and exotic scene.  From here you will then enjoy a drive to Banteay Srei, the birth place of Khmer classical style architecture.  This is a small temple but it's carvings are very impressive.

Day 5

Following breakfast transfer to the airport for a flight to Phnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia.  On arrival in Phnom Penh you will be met for a sightseeing tour of the city, visiting Wat Phnom and Wat Ounalom, the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda, the National Museum, the Tuol Sleng Museum and the Central Market.  You will then be transferred to the Intercontinental Hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 6

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your onward flight to Danang in Vietnam via Saigon.  On arrival at Danang Airport you will be met and transferred to the Furama Resort for an overnight stay.

Day 7

Following breakfast enjoy a short drive to the ancient town of Hoi An.  Begin a walking tour of the town centre, take in the former merchant houses, the 400 year old Japanese covered bridge and the colourful market with its stalls brimming with tropical specialities.  The market is a good place to buy silk.  Continue your drive to the former royal city of Hue.  Upon arrival a enjoy sightseeing tour of the Imperial City, Ngo Mon Gate, Thai Hoa Palace, the Halls of the Mandarins, the Nine Dynastic Urns and the Forbidden Purple City.  Stay overnight at the Morin Hotel.

Day 8

This morning enjoy a boat trip on the Perfume River to visit Thien Mu Pagoda, Hue's most preserved religious monument standing on the river bank with its seven floor tower.  Later visit the imperial tombs of Khai Dinh and Tu Duc Emperor who ruled Hue more then 100 years ago.  Transfer to Hue Airport for onward flight to Hanoi.    On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Sofitel Plaza Hanoi Hotel for a two night stay.

Day 9

Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam is a city of lakes, shaded boulevards and public parks with impressive French style buildings.  Today you will visit the One Pillar Pagoda, the Temple of Literature, Hoan Kiem Lake, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Opera House and St Joseph's Cathedral.

Day 10

After an early breakfast, transfer to the airport for a flight to Vientiane, the capital city of Laos.  On arrival you will be met for a sightseeing tour of the relaxed city, known for its interesting temples and lively markets.  You will visit Patuxai, a large monument similar to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, Ho Pha Keo the former royal temple of the Lao monarchy, Wat Si Saket and Wat Si Muang Temples.

Day 11

This morning you will be met and transferred to Vientiane Airport for an onward flight to Luang Prabang.  On arrival at Luang Prabang Airport you will be met for a sightseeing tour of this ancient capital city of the Lane Xang Kingdom, the area is famous for its historical temples and is a designated UNESCO world heritage site.  Today you will visit the impressive Wat Xieng Thong, Wat Wisunalat, Wat Mai, Wat That Luang and Wat Saen Temples.  You will then be transferred to the La Residence Phou Vao for a two night stay.

Day 12

After breakfast, travel on a long tailed boat along the Mekong River to visit the mysterious Pak Ou Caves.  The sanctuaries at Pak Ou consist of two large caves, both repositories for thousands of images of Buddha, which range from a centimetre to two metres in height.  Later visit Ban Xanghai, the village well-known for Lao traditional rice whisky to be distilled and taseted.  Return to Luang Prabang boat and then drive to Ban Xangkhong known for its wood paper making and Lao silk weavings.

Day 13

After checking out of the hotel, enjoy a short sightseeing tour of the National Museum and the Phu Si Temple before transferring to the airport for your onward flight to Bangkok.  On arrival in Bangkok you will be met and transferred to the Bel Aire Princess Hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 14

Your flight from Bangkok to London Heathrow is not until late evening and so the day is at leisure before you will be met and transferred to Bangkok Airport for your return flight.  You will arrive into London Heathrow early the next morning.
