8 Night Tour

Days 1 & 2

Fly economy class with British Airways and Thai International from London Heathrow to Chiang Rai via Bangkok.  On arrival transfer to the Dusit Island Resort for an overnight stay.  The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 3

Cross the Mekong border from Thailand to Cambodia and meet your new guide at the small town of Houeisay.  Travel by boat to Pakbeng.  During the journey stops will be made to observe rural life along the Mekong River, visit Ban Houelipan a small village of the Hmong hill tribe, also visit Ban Koneteun a village of the Tai Leu ethnic group.   Lunch is served on board the boat.  On arrival at Pakbeng, check-in at the Luangsay Lodge.

Day 4

After breakfast visit a local market where Hmong and other minorities gather to sell and buy local products.  Continue your journey by boat to Luang Prabang, the ancient first capital of the Lane Xang kingdom, the centre of religious life in Laos and a world heritage city.  On the way visit Ban Kock Aed, a small village of the  Khmu hill tribe.  Lunch is served on board.  Make a stop at Pak Ou Cave, known for it's thousands of images of Buddha.  Arrive in Luang Prabang late afternoon and stay for three nights at the Pansea Hotel.

Day 5

After breakfast at the hotel, take a sightseeing tour of the scared city of temples.  Luang Prabang has over fifty temples.  Visit the National Museum, the former Royal Palace, Wat Visoun, Wat Aham.  During the afternoon visit Wat Xiengthong, the Hmong Market, later climb Phousi Hill for an impressive panoramic view over Luang Prabang.

Day 6

Following breakfast, take an excursion by overland to visit the Kuangsi Waterfall.  En route visit Ban Na Oune, a small Hmong Village and also visit Ban Tha Pane a small Khmu village.  A picnic lunch will be served near the Kuangsi Waterfall.  Return to Luang Prabang in the afternoon and continue to visit Ban Xangkhong, a village will know for it's paper making and Lao silk weavings.  Stay overnight in Luang Prabang.

Day 7

After breakfast transfer to the airport for an onward flight to Vientiane, the capital city of Laos.  On arrival transfer to the Settha Palace Hotel and check-in for an overnight stay.  Enjoy a city tour which will include visits to Wat Sisaket, Wat Prakeo, the sacred Tha Luang Monument, Patousi Monument and the village of  Ban Nong Bua Thong known for it's hand weaving.    Later in the afternoon drive south of Vientiane to the Wat Xieng Khuane Buddha Park.

Day 8

Following breakfast at the hotel, morning visit to Wat Sisaket and Wat Ho Prakeo.  Transfer to the airport for onward economy class flights with Thai International and British Airways to London Heathrow via Bangkok.

Prices include economy class British Airways and Thai International flights from London Heathrow to Chian Rai via Bangkok and returning from Vientiane to London via Bangkok, with airport taxes.  A domestic economy class flight from Luang Prabang to Vientiane is also included, with airport taxes.

All accommodation with daily breakfast, transfers and tours with English speaking guides as detailed above are included.  The boat excursions will be shared with other passengers.   Meals are included as detailed (however drinks are not included). Accommodation is based on two people sharing a twin room, although rooms for sole use are available at an additional cost.
