Kyushu
Kyushu is Japan's third largest island,
located in the south of the country it is an area of outstanding
natural beauty, known for its abundance of hot springs and stunning
scenery.
Day 1
Fly
with Japan Airlines from London Heathrow to Fukuoka via Osaka.
Day 2
On arrival at Fukuoka Airport make your way to
station located in the terminal building. Using a 14 day
ordinary Japan rail pass travel by train to Hakata Station, the ANA
Hotel Hakata is a short walk from the station, stay overnight in a
standard twin room on a room only basis. Fukuoka is the
political and cultural centre of Kyushu with a proud history and a
modern urban outlook.
Day 3
Travel by rail to the city of Nagasaki on the
North Western coast of Kyushu. Places of interest include the
Peace Park and O-ura Tenhudo christian church, a designated national
treasure. Stay overnight at the traditional Sakamotoya Ryokan
in a Japanese style room inclusive of dinner and breakfast.

4
Continue to the Aso National Park in Kumamoto
prefecture in Western Kyushu. This volcanic region provides
stunning scenery and many hot spring resorts. The Aso Prince
Hotel is a short taxi ride from Akamizu Station, stay overnight in a
standard twin room on a room only basis.
Day 5
Today travel to Kumamoto City, some places of
interest include the impressive Kumamoto Castle and Suizenji-joju-en
Garden as well as numerous hot springs. The Hotel New Otani is
located opposite Kumamoto Station, check-in for an overnight stay in
a twin room on a room only basis.
Day 6
Your journey by train continues South to the
coastal resort of Ibusuki, popular with tourists it is famed for
it's steaming hot sand baths which are said to have healing
properties. Stay overnight at the Ibusuki Seaside Hotel in a
Japanese style room inclusive of dinner and breakfast.
Day 7
Today travel to Kagoshima, a castle town
dating back to the 14th Century, it is watched over by Sakura-jima
in Kagoshima Bay, one of the World's
most active volcanoes. The city still has many historic spots
associated with the Meiji restoration. Places of interest
include Kagoshima Bay, Kyuiso-Tei-en Garden and Shoko-shusei-kan
Museum. Stay for two nights at the Kagoshima Tokyu Inn in a
standard twin room on a room only basis.
Day 8
Day is at leisure in Kagoshima.

9
Travel onward by rail to Miyazaki prefecture
on the South Eastern coast of Kyushu. Miyazaki prefecture is
known for its stunning coastline, mountainous scenery and numerous
shrines. Myths have it that Miyazaki is the birth place of
Japan. The Miyazaki-jingu Grand Shrine in Miyazaki City is
said to be sacred to the Emperor Jinmu, supposedly the first Emperor
of Japan. Other places of interest include Heiwadai-koen Park
and Miyazaki City Phoenix Zoo. Stay overnight at the Hotel JAL
City Miyazaki in a standard room on a room only basis.
Day 10
Continue
your journey to Beppu, one of the best hot spring resorts in Japan.
Beppu, has eight different hot spring areas and is known the for the
variety of water properties at each spring. Stay for two
nights at the Tenku Yubo Seikaiso in a Japanese style room inclusive
of dinner and breakfast.
Day 11
Day is at leisure in Beppu.
Day 12
Return by train to Fukuoka (Hakata) and stay
overnight at the ANA Hakata Hotel in a standard twin room on a room
only basis.
Day 13
Check-out of the ANA Hakata Hotel and return
to Fukuoka Airport by train. Fly with Japan Airlines to London
Heathrow via Osaka.
