Hua Hin - The Royal Retreat

After you've experienced the vibrancy of Thailand's atmospheric capital city, why not relax at one of the country's oldest and most traditional beach resorts, Hua Hin.  Sometimes called the royal resort, it is less than a three hour drive from Bangkok on the Gulf of Thailand.

Hua Hin became popular in the 1920s after the construction of the railway line from Bangkok, as a rainy season retreat.  King Rama VII built the Klai Kangwon Palace (meaning 'far from worries') just north of Hua Hin.  The tranquil fishing village then became a royal resort and as a result became popular among the Thai nobility and upper class.  Today, the palace is still used by members of the Royal Family and is open to the public for visits.

The town was home to the first golf course in Thailand and now has the highest density of  world class golf courses anywhere in the country.

Hua Hin is a friendly fishing village and its beautiful beach stretches as far as the eye can see.  Its streets have an array of tailors and people practising reflexology and there are markets selling souvenirs.  Hua Hin's many harbour restaurants overlook the brightly lit boats and serve delicious Thai, Western and Italian cuisine and exquisite fresh seafood.

Sofitel Central Hua Hin Resort

The deluxe 5* Sofitel Central Hua Hin Resort is surrounded by 13 hectares of landscaped gardens and is right on the beach.  This lovingly preserved colonial style resort is the epitome of luxury, attention to detail is of paramount importance ensuring that every guest has wonderful memories of their stay.

The exquisitely appointed superior rooms have high ceilings and elegant period furniture.  The richly polished hardwood is softened by the warm tones of Thai silk  and evokes the spirit of the 1920's.  Each air conditioned room has a private bathroom with either private terrace or balcony, international direct dial telephones, satellite television and minibar.

The Resort has a large range of facilities including three swimming pools, three children's pools, badminton, croquet, snooker and games room, two putting greens, beach volleyball, fitness centre, table tennis, two flood lit tennis courts, petanque, giant chess and sea canoeing.  There are also six 18 hole par 72 golf courses within twenty minutes of the hotel.  The resort's Centara Spa offers the ultimate in indulgence with an appealing selection of treatments and massages.

A wonderful choice of restaurants and bars are available to tantalise your taste buds  including the Railway Restaurant which serves delicious International and Thai Cuisine.  Sumptuous seafood is served at the Palm Seafood Pavilion and the Salathai Restaurant offers excellent Thai cuisine.  In addition there are a number of snack bars serving light refreshments during the day and the Satchmo Club is a fun place to dance the night away.
