Highlights of Taiwan
Days 1 & 2
Fly with British Airways
and Cathay Pacific from London Heathrow to Taipei via Hong Kong.
On arrival in Taipei transfer to the Golden China Hotel for a two
night stay.
Day 3
An
exciting day begins with a city tour of Taipei, including visits to
the CKS Memorial Hall, National Palace Museum where 5000 years of
Chinese imperial arts and jade collections are displayed, Martyrs'
Shrine of traditional architecture and the Taipei Handicraft Centre.
After lunch proceed to Keelung to visit Chung Ching Park, view the
huge statue of the Goddess of Mercy and Keelung Harbour.
Continue to Yehliu famed for it's numerous rock formations.
Day 4
Following breakfast
travel to Lukang village, known as a centre of arts and handicrafts,
particularly wooden and bamboo items. In earlier years this
was the site of magnificent homes and temples of uniquely Taiwanese
design, some of these structures still exist today. Continue
to Taichung City for an overnight stay at the Plaza International
Hotel.
Day 5
After
breakfast enjoy a morning tour of Sun Moon Lake, situated 762 metres
above sea level in the lofty mountains of central Taiwan.
Visit the famous Wen Wu Temple or Literature Warrior Temple, Holy
Monk Shrine and Peacock Garden. Continue South by bus or train
to Taiwan's second city, Kaohsiung. Stay overnight at the
Holiday Garden Hotel.
Day 6
Following breakfast there
is a morning tour to Kenting National Park, located at Taiwan's
Southern tip, the 37 miles of coral rimmed shoreline along three
sides of the park provide it's main attractions. Visits will
be made to Oluanpi Light House, Maopitou coastal scenic area and
Kenting forest recreation area. Stay for two nights at the
Howard Plaza Hotel.
Day 7
After breakfast, the day
is free at leisure to enjoy Kenting.
Day 8
Following breakfast, the
morning is free at leisure. At midday check-out and take the
hotel shuttle bus to Kaohsiung Airport. Fly to Hualien.
Stay overnight at the Marshal Hotel.
Day 9
After
breakfast, enjoy a full day tour to Taroko National Park.
Taroko Gorges is exceptionally beautiful, created by a river which
has cut deep into the solid marble mountains. The road is
carved into sheer walls of rock, and snakes it's way past forested
peaks and cliffs towering thousands of feet above it, while hundreds
of feet below a river roars past gigantic marble boulders.
Stops will be made at Evergreen Shrine, Swallow Grotto, Tunnel of
Nine Turns, Marble bridge, Tienshang and Marble Factory. On
the return journey to Hualien city see Chi Hsing Beach and the
Hualien Stone Sculptural Park. Then proceed to Hualien station
for a train journey to Taipei. Stay overnight at the Golden
China Hotel.
Day 10
Check-out of the Golden
China Hotel and transfer to the airport for onward flights with
Cathay Pacific and British Airways to London Heathrow via Hong Kong.
