Borneo

The island of Borneo is part of three countries, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei.   AsiaFare offer tailormade holidays to the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak.

Sabah is on the Northern tip of Borneo, and is often called the "Land below the wind" as it is home to the highest mountain in South East Asia, Mount Kinabalu.  Places of interest include, Kota Kinabalu the state capital of Sabah, this is where many visitors choose to base their stay.  Sabah is an excellent place for diving, with the Sipadan Islands and Tunku Abdul Marine Park offering some of the best dive sites in the World.  Twenty minutes from the town of Sandakan is one of the World's largest orang utan rehabilitation centres, the Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary and for nature lovers this is a must see attraction.  The more adventurous visitor may enjoy a challenging two or three day climb of the magnificent Mt. Kinabalu.

Sarawak on the North Western tip of Borneo is also known for its abundance of wildlife, wonderful tropical landscapes and cultural diversity.  Kuching the state capital, often called "Cat City" is the main base for many peoples stay in Sarawak.  From here visitors can enjoy excursions to Semonggok Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre and Satang Island, one of three islands designated as a turtle conservation area.  Day tours to watch the rare Irrawaddy Dolphin can also be enjoyed.
